Conor Pickett

Conor has been working with clay for over 15 years, and his love for the material is anything but subtle. After earning a BA with high honors in Visual Art from Eckerd College in 2013, he returned to the North Shore and began teaching kids’ classes and working as a studio tech at The Clay School in Lynn.

In 2014, Conor headed to San Francisco, where he picked up some unexpected skills as a Carpenter’s Apprentice and Beekeeper before joining the team at The Sharon Arts Studio as a studio technician and teen ceramics instructor. A year later, he began teaching and leading operations at Clay By The Bay, where he helped shape and create the studio’s community, programs, and classes for five years.

Since moving back to the North Shore in 2020, Conor has taught at The Umbrella Arts Center, Indigo Fire, and The Clay School. These days, you’ll find him teaching at Score & Slip in Beverly and The Clay School in Lynn—and full time as the Ceramics Teacher and Gallery Director at Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA.

Conor’s work blends the functional with the sculptural, often balancing clean forms with playful, gestural surfaces. He treats the studio as a space for exploration, allowing curiosity and experimentation to drive his creative process. He brings this mindset into his teaching with enthusiasm, flexibility, and a healthy sense of humor.
